Adults and Mental Health in NH - Reports

  • Mental Health and Adults: Aging Will Drive the System (08-20-2008)

Nationally, approximately 26% of the population over the age of 18 has a mental health disorder.   If New Hampshire is consistent with the rest of the nation, this suggests that more than 250,000 adults in New Hampshire have a diagnosable mental health disorder and slightly more than 150,000 would have a mental illness that significantly affects their ability to engage in daily living.   Understanding who is using mental health services, what services are being provided, and what the service delivery system looks like is important to understanding what policies are necessary to ensure that the mental health system in New Hampshire is prepared for the future.
